Atlanta, GA asked in Traffic Tickets for Georgia

Q: Clerk said speeding ticket would be reduced, it was not, see details

Months ago I got a speeding ticket that carried 3 points in georgia. I called the clerks office to reschedule a court date as I am a college student and had classes on the original date. I called a few days later and they said that instead of rescheduling, they would reduce the ticket speed so there would be no points and not reported to insurance. I called again and recorded the call (georgia is a one party state) and confirmed that 1.Speed reduced 2. not reported, and that even though I was paying the original speed, it would be reduced after the fact.

The ticket was not reduced and points added to record. I called the clerk today and explained the situation. They said I could not record the previous conversation and were very rude and upset and that they could not do anything and would not do anything because i did not have the clerks name, but I have the recording/time/date, so I know they could figure it out. What can I do at this point?

A: You need to hire a traffic ticket attorney to represent you. Search here and on Google for an attorney. I see that Morrison and Nichols answer traffic ticket questions on Justia, maybe they will take your case, you will have to pay them a fee.

The law does not recognize being a college student as being a defense to traffic tickets or failing to appear in Court. You don't get any special consideration from Judges.
