A: There are specific rules and procedures for this which unless you are in a Court which allows a relaxed application of the Rules of Evidence, then you will need to follow those rules and procedures. Depending on what evidence is often times determines what is required for admission into evidence-----if your matter is contentious, then I would highlt recommend that you seek legal counsel to represent you. Good luck.

A: The Superior Court has a clerk in a "self help" window at most courthouses that can assist you in filing documents for cases in small claims and unlawful detainer. It can be overwhelming to try to follow the rules while representing yourself. Just remember, the Court is not there to handle your case for you, it is up to you to prepare your case, which means organizing your documentary evidence with a list of the documents, so you can present them in an organized manner to the court. Start by listing the things you are trying to prove, and then list the documents that you believe show each point. If you have a number of checks showing payment, or other evidence like that, you need to make a summary with a total. The Judge is not going to do your work for you. Good luck. Create a checklist of documents to file with the court and meet any deadlines.
