Port Charlotte, FL asked in Consumer Law for Florida

Q: Spirit airlines last contact said they refunded my money to a Mastercard #…. I paid my Visa card. Will I be on a suit?

I booked & paid $244.00 to travel agency on 2/21/20 for departure to MX 3/31/20.Because of Covid, flight was canceled I could request refund. After calling & filing forms through many avenues, I called and talked on a live chat call with Spirit & was told they had my money, $233 (pd commission) & I could get chits for future. I was 82 yrs old and just going to place my late husbands ashes in the sea & had no desire to travel again. After many denials to my further requests, the last response from Spirit was, my fault for going thru a third party which cancelled first but because of my circumstance they had paid $223 (another commission?) to my Mastercard #…. I’ve never had that card and pd with B of A Visa card. If there is a class action suit will I automatically be on it when Spirit says I was paid? A demand letter was sent & ignored.

A: Perhaps the travel agency got the refund. Contact them.

A: It sounds like your beef is with your travel agency. I recommend you call your travel agent and ask for a full refund for your cancelled flight.
