Q: What can I do if my sons father tries to keep him in New York?
My son went to spend the summer with this father in New York. I live in Florida. We never been to court nor was married at the time I had my son. I have messages stating the date and place we would pick up my son. What can I do if his father tries to keep him in New York from me?
A: If you have never been to court for paternity then you have full control of the child. Unfortunately you may have to travel to collect your child but if you do he cannot stop you. Speak with a local family lawyer for more specific advice.
