A: In California, the legality of LED underglow and wheel lights on motorcycles is a bit complex. While there are no specific laws prohibiting these types of lights, there are regulations that restrict the color and placement of lights on vehicles, including motorcycles.

According to the California Vehicle Code (CVC):

1. CVC 25102 states that lighting equipment must not be installed in a way that impairs the driver's vision or distracts other drivers.

2. CVC 25950 prohibits flashing lights on vehicles, except for turn signals and hazard lights.

3. CVC 25951 restricts the color of lights that can be displayed on a vehicle. Only white, yellow, or amber lights are allowed on the front, and red lights are permitted on the rear. Blue lights are reserved for law enforcement vehicles.

4. CVC 25952 prohibits any non-original equipment lighting that is not approved by the California Highway Patrol.

Based on these regulations, it appears that static underglow and wheel lights might be permitted if they are white, yellow, or amber on the front and sides, and red on the rear. However, any flashing or blue lights would not be allowed.

It's important to note that even if your LED lights comply with these regulations, you could still be pulled over if a law enforcement officer believes they are distracting or impair your vision.

To ensure compliance with the law, it's best to consult with the California Highway Patrol or a local motor vehicle department for guidance before installing any aftermarket lighting on your motorcycle.
