Q: I had my truck parked at my aunts house and a towing company put an unlawful lien on it lied about the dates
The towing company pushed my truck into their gated yard which happens to be less than 4 feet away from my aunts yard with no authorization 3 days ago but on the lien letter it says they were in possession of it since 7/15/24 and want to charge me 7500 to get it back my aunt went to confront them since it was removed without consent and they willingly gave it back but dont want to remove the lien how can i go about this
A:
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your truck. Start by gathering all relevant documents, including the lien letter, any communication with the towing company, and evidence that your aunt gave the truck back willingly. This documentation will be crucial for proving your case.
Next, contact the California Department of Consumer Affairs or the local consumer protection agency. They can provide guidance on how to file a complaint against the towing company for wrongful lien placement and unauthorized towing. Additionally, consider reaching out to a local attorney who can offer legal advice tailored to your situation.
You might also want to visit your local courthouse to file a claim against the towing company for any damages or fees that are unjustified. Keeping detailed records of all interactions and steps you take will support your case and help resolve the issue more effectively.
