A: You might have grounds for a legal claim if the individual’s actions amounted to fraud or deceptive practices. Sending a message claiming they sent you money with the intent to lure you into interacting with their content could be considered misleading. If you suffered any actual harm or financial loss as a result, this could strengthen your case.

However, if it was simply a misleading message without any real harm or loss, it may be harder to pursue legal action. Courts typically require proof that you experienced damages, either financial or emotional, to pursue compensation.

It may be a good idea to document everything, including the text message and any subsequent interactions. If the deception caused harm, speaking to a legal professional may help you better understand your options.
