A: Such a statement is discriminatory and problematic, regardless of who makes it. Broad generalizations about any racial or ethnic group create hostile environments and go against the core principles of true diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. These types of remarks can damage workplace culture and violate anti-discrimination policies that protect all employees.

You should document this incident and report it through appropriate channels, whether that's HR, your direct supervisor, or another designated authority figure in your organization. Even if the person making these statements holds a leadership position, they aren't exempt from following workplace conduct guidelines and anti-discrimination laws.

Consider having an open dialogue with other colleagues who may feel uncomfortable with these statements to ensure they feel supported. Remember that genuine DEI work focuses on creating inclusive environments where everyone feels respected and valued, regardless of their background. If you're hesitant about coming forward alone, you might find strength in addressing this collectively with others who share your concerns about these discriminatory remarks.
