A: A North Carolina attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. That's a long time ago; I hope you are okay. Until you are able to consult with a North Carolina attorney, or better yet, the attorney or successor to the attorney who handled the case, the short answer is that the funds may have been handled in a separate hearing by your local court system where this took place. It looks like it took place around 1987. Nationwide, cases involving infants involve something called "Infant Compromise Orders" (the exact name could vary by state), where the funds of the award are held in trust for the infant until they reach adulthood. If the law firm who originally handled this is no longer in operation, you could look into whether there are any court records. Good luck
