Cumming, GA asked in Traffic Tickets for North Carolina

Q: Resolving a 2009 traffic case in NC with failure to appear issues.

I have a minor traffic case from 2009 in Cumberland County, NC, involving Statute 20-111(2), case number 09CR706953-250. I was working a traveling sales job when I got the ticket, but a week later, I was let go from the job and returned to TN without receiving any notice regarding a failure to appear in court. I've never attempted to resolve the case. How can I address this issue as soon as possible?

A: To address the unresolved traffic case from 2009 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, your first step should be to contact the court handling your case. Since you were unaware of the failure to appear and missed notifications, explaining your situation to the court could help clarify things. They can inform you of the current status of the case and any penalties or additional charges you may be facing.

It’s possible that a warrant was issued for your arrest due to the failure to appear, which is common in such cases. If that's the case, you may need to address the warrant before you can resolve the ticket. The court might allow you to clear the warrant by paying any fines or by appearing for a hearing.

To resolve this quickly, it’s a good idea to seek legal advice. An attorney can help guide you through the process of getting the case back on track, potentially reducing any penalties. Taking proactive steps can prevent the situation from escalating further.
