Basically, you don't. You started the criminal investigation and once an arrest is made, it will be completely up to the prosecutor whether to proceed with the case.

You have not given enough information here. You haven't even indicated what the charges are, and yes it can be continued until the case is ready for trial, but the judge controls this basically, and it must be a rather complicated factual pattern as well as serious charges.

Criminal records are public records. You can go see the public records at the clerk's office most likely.

Q: Will an expunged offense show up on a background check for a state (Vermont D.O.C) background check?

I just got a job with the VT D.O.C. Five years ago in Connecticut I was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. I never went to jail, but I paid restitution and the record was expunged. Will it show up on a background check from the VT D.O.C?

There are a number of private companies that get arrest records because they are public knowledge at the time. You would have to ask VT DOC about this. They might also have access to even expunged cases. Here in FL, the board of nursing can get at expunged records, and so can the FBI.

If a sex crime (rape) was commited while both parties were minors, and charges are just now (6 years later) being filed, and the one who "committed the crime" is now an adult, what are the chances of a conviction? Also, if they do get convicted, would they have to registure as a sex offender?

All states are "stop and frisk" states, and it is called a "Terry" stop. It depends upon the facts and circumstances of each case. You gave no facts, just a question.

Your cousin appears to need a criminal defense attorney for this. Basically, there cannot be an arrest for extradition without a warrant for arrest coming from the requesting authority, the other state.

You need to hire a private criminal defense attorney. The attorney will investigate all the facts and circumstances and represent you accordingly. What you can expect is that the prosecutor will prosecute, and your attorney will defend.

I suppose that you have found an answer to this question by now. You could do a simple internet search to perhaps find out if a sling shot is considered a weapon, and whether concealing or carring one in a car is illegal.

Your best option is to go see a local attorney about this. I suppose that she could be prosecuted for forgery or some other crime.
