A Pennsylvania attorney could advise best, but you await a response for two weeks and time is likely of the essence. It's probably a narrow area of practice, but she could search for professional license defense attorneys or nursing license defense attorneys. She could look to see what general... View More

Q: If someone has pictures of a minor consuming alcohol, can a college campus take action against them?

Depends on the college's rules. If you are being blackmailed, the person trying to do that faces far more severe penalties. Pictures may show what appears to be a minor consuming alcohol. They aren't proof the minor did consume alcohol. For college charges that may not matter but for... View More

Anyone can file a complaint. Whether or not it is something the police would do anything about is another thing. Keep a copy of her postings (hard copy), showing time and date; likewise any instagram or other transmission. Keep your response to a simple "I disagree." and say no more.... View More

Q: Should I tell the police that my 17 year old cousin has been with a 21 year old since she was 16 and he lives there?

They've been together for a little over a year since she was 16 and he lives at my uncle's house and isn't even bothered by the fact that he's letting an adult sleep with his 17 year old child

The age of consent is 16, so it's not illegal. What message that sends the 17 year old is not a legal question.

He needs a lawyer. Assault is not a d.i.y. case. He needs to speak with the public defender. He can come to the aid of his friend but can't be throwing fists.

Call the police - they might be committing criminal harassment and criminal threatening. This could lay the foundation for obtaining a restraining order or peace bond but also start the process of getting them the mental health care services that they need. You want the police involved to... View More

As a general matter, cancellation can mean termination of something, such as a membership or contract. Cancellation is generally deemed to be more permanent in nature than suspension. But it all depends on context and usage. Good luck

Just look for someone who handles civil litigation. You'll have 30 days from the date of the magistrate's judgment to file an appeal to the Court of Common Pleas in your county (likely Wyoming County). Your local bar association may be able to point you to someone as well.

Best of luck to you.

Q: A girl bought a puppy and wasn't able to care for it. It's been living with me for 4 years. Now she wants her back.

This was my landlord's daughter who has never been a responsible pet owner. In those 4 years, she would occasionally ask if the dog could stay overnight with her and I would allow that but my place is her home. All expenses have been paid by me, including years of dog classes such as Nose... View More

Initially, as they say, possession is 9/10th of the law. So there's that.

I believe no court would award possession of the dog to this girl. She gave you the dog, and you've done everything to care for it. Unless the girl has some sort of writing that specifies that she never...

Threats you should discuss with the police. Be accurate--"that's what he meant" or "that's what I took it to mean" aren't the same as "this is what he said"\

Note the time, date, and the words used in the order they were said.

Q: Can i cross complaint against my now ex for co-signing a car and my wages are being garnished and he keeps quitting

Cary B. Hall

Potentially. You can also bring a separate small claims suit against him for your lost wages due to garnishment -- although that's only if there was a promise (and hopefully in writing) by him to pay for the car 100% and indemnify you. If you co-signed, normally you're on the hook for... View More

First off you send them a letter confirming this and asking that they send it to their insurance company.

You may want to bring it to the attention of the archdiocese as it's hardly a "good neighbors" approach especially if having tire stops is relatively cheap....

Primary and co sign are different. Look at whose name the title and registration are in. That's who is the owner. If it's him you have a claim for what you put into it, any insurance required etc. That would be a set off. Suggest you mediate with someone he respects.
