17 is the age of consent in Texas. So, assuming your sexual relationship with this man began after you were 17, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with that legally, assuming consent was given.

Yes, it is illegal to have sex with a person not at least 18 years old. So as of now having sex (you being 17) she is breaking that law as well. Just because each of you are minors that does not make it legal. Once you are 18 it would still be illegal for you to have sex with her. However, the... View More

If there is more than 3 years between your ages the Romeo and Juliet law will not apply so in your case it will not. You were under the age of 18 so yes he could in fact get in trouble.

Relax young lady. Your situation is not dire at all. First, if you are not having sex there is no problem. If you are, there is. The age of consent in Texas is 17, so you cannot "legally" have sex with your boyfriend until your 17th birthday. Whether a 17 year old girl should have sex... View More

Two answers: Technically, best answer, yes! The age of consent in Texas is 17, so it is illegal for her to be having sex with you. But, two, there is a Romeo & Juliet law in Texas. If you have not read the play from William Shakespeare it is a must read! But for your "legal" purposes,... View More

The age of consent in Texas is 17. She cannot put him in jail for the offense presumed to be committed by your question. If you are living in her house, however, she has every right to tell you who you can and cannot see. The punishment for not following those orders, however, is not to put HIM in... View More
The set of furniture in this situation is almost fifteen/sixteen years old and completely paid off. It has been in my use since its purchase. I am now 20 years old and am asking because I intend to move out. I want things to run as smoothly as possible, and I don't want there to be any reason... View More
answered on Jan 2, 2018
Your use of the furniture to the exclusion of all others does create an argument that the property is yours for the taking. However, it is only an argument, and if the purchasers claimed theft, you may win the battle in the long run but not avoid the hassles the battle brings with it. The old,... View More

You could report an assault to law enforcement but be prepared for the very real possibility that she may stop providing for you, and if she is arrested there may be a bond condition that prohibits her from any contact with you. So, if you are totally dependent on her, it may be wise to find out... View More

Although he can be charged he also has an affirmative defense (meaning it must be raised to be used) if charged. The Romeo and Juliet law in Texas is a defense as long as your ages are not greater than 3 years apart.

This is a delicate situation because the children are so young. For that reason, I think the most probable thing is parents, school teachers, and other adults in their lives will discipline and correct the behavior without the legal process getting involved at this point.

If there is enough evidence you can petition the court for sole custody and perhaps, limit the father's access. At 12, you are your son's legal advocate unless the Court finds it necessary to appoint an attorney for him; however, although he may be 12, he is still a minor and you are... View More
