If your daughter has been defamed, she may have a claim for libel or slander. In Indiana, the elements of defamation are: 1. a communication with defamatory imputation; 2.malice; 3.publication; and 4.damages. However, you do not have to prove damages if the communication imputes: criminal conduct; a loathsome disease; misconduct in a person's profession or occupation; or sexual misconduct.
