A: I lectured at the 2010 AILA National Conference on mandamus litigation. In the immigration context, a petition for writ of mandamus is a legal complaint filed in US district court, which alleges that USCIS, the Dept of State and/or other immigration agencies have failed to take action on your immigration matter, withing a reasonable period of time. Essentially, you ask a district court judge to force the government to take action. Mandamus is not a form of judicial review of an adverse decision.

Please call me at 617-722-0005 if you need further explanation. I've successfully filed such cases in Massachusetts, Rhode Island. and New York.
