Q: Can police enter my home without a warrant, if someone gave them a key, and told them they had seen something illegal?
My home was under preforeclosure and I was undergoing a loan modification with the bank. A property management company came by and changed my locks even though my home had not been foreclosed on. He saw cannabis inside, locked the door and called the police. They entered without a warrant. There was no one inside as the man varified and not an emergency. Two sets of policemen entered twice before the warrant was signed. All my tools, tv, vcr and other personal items were stolen. Walls, water heater etc were also destroyed. The police were the only ones with a key to the house. help!
A: Illegal search here. The constitution protects against this. Hopefully, you have already gotten an attorney. Any evidence should have been suppressed.
