Q: I am being sued for Copyrights Infringment
About two months ago I recieved a summons that I am being sued for copyrights infringment. A company by the name Farouk is suing me claiming that I ordered some of their products and it was siezed by customs. I have never order anything from this company nor have I attempt to sell their products. I have not even heard of this company until I recieved this summons. They stated in the letter that it went to my old address. Where I lived with my husband, two kids and brother. We had a few guest here and there as any household. I have no money for a lawyer and dont know who ordered these items under my name. I would like to know what can I do in this case. I no longer live at that address and when this actually took place. But from what is indicated on the summons they are referring to my old address. But it does not tell me the date these items were ordered. Apparently it was done when I was living there. Please advise me on my options and rights.
A: You needed an attorney for this nearly four years ago. I hope it turned out in your favor.
