A: Those numbers are the way the case is indexed. If you put that in google you will get a link that does directly to the case. The 438 in the 438th compilation of cases since the U.S. Supreme Court has been in existence. 238 is the page number in that book. If you go to a law library you will find a book labeled 438, etc. Much easier to get things on-line now.
