Q: How long do you have to be married before you can collect spose support in Ga?

Married almost 15yrs in July.He says I can't get anything from him.What do you think?

A: There is no specific time period that you need to be married to qualify for support. Anyone who has been married for fifteen years can certainly get spousal support or alimony if they have the need and the other spouse has the ability to pay. A rough guideline if you meet the "needs/ability" test is spousal support should last approximately one-third of the length of the marriage. In your case, that could mean five years of spousal support.
