Saint John, IN asked in Libel & Slander for Indiana

Q: I have been threatened to be sued based upon a Facebook post about a local companies failure to provide promised servic

I had rented tables and chairs from a company and the day of the party he had his neighbor bring the chairs and a tent. The man had no idea what he was doing and was unable to set up the tent. The owner never called to apologize and I never recieved the tent. He didn't charge us for the chairs but it was the tent I really needed anyhow. He was a coward and had his neighbor pick the chairs up and never apologized. A year and a half later my friend had issues too with his services and posted a status update on Facebook. I also chimed in on my personal encounter. He commented back and forth and we all got in a heated argument. Now he is threatening to sue. I didn't lie or falsify information. I spoke the truth but did call him names.

A: Truth is an absolute defense to a lawsuit for libel and/or slander.
