Q: How long can it take to be charged with a fatality auto accident if not charged the day of the accident?
My friend was in an accident in FL and was not cited the day of the accident. Is there a statute of limitation for her to still be charged?
A: It takes as long as it takes. The State can file charges any time within the statute of limitations. She needs to hire an aggressive attorney ASAP, though, because the State is building its case now. Sometimes, we attorneys can mitigate the charges or even convince the State not to file them at all, but there are absolutely no guarantees in litigation whatsoever.
