If there is a child support order, you have to pay in accordance with the child support order.
In other words, if it says you have to pay $500 to her every month, you have to pay it directly to her. Otherwise, you place yourself at risk for contempt. If you still want to pay rent directly to the landlord, you can try to get the order modified. However, it is unlikely the court will consider it child support or allow for this if the total amount you paying for rent equals the amount of the court ordered child support payment or the total monthl rent.
