Asked in Family Law for Georgia

Q: Is there a way that the parents do not have to deal directly with each other?

Myself and my son's father can not get along. I fear he is manipulating our son as well, but if we had no contact with each other it would be best for all involved. We already don't see each other when exchanging our son, but when it comes to negotiating vacation times or holiday pick up/drop off times it always ends in explosive arguments. I would prefer to submit vacation or holidays to lawyers, courts, or a mediator of some kind.

A: Submitting the vacation time to lawyers or a mediator could get very expensive.

Have you tried e-mail? If not, try that first. Another possiblity is to have a trusted family member communicate with him via e-mail or by phone.

Also, to avoid some problems, you may want a more detailed parenting plan that sets forth times and dates for vacations and holidays. This may decrease the problems.
