Duluth, MN asked in Car Accidents for Minnesota

Q: My dog was leashed up in our front yard. A motorcycle went by and the dog broke his collar and ran into the motorcycle.

I have home owners insurance and my agent said I am covered up to $300,000 worth of damages to the bike and medical. The motorcyclist has a lawyer. Can he sue me for loss of wages, emotional distress, or pain and suffering? It was a complete accident and I had no way of knowing the dog was going to break his collar. Thanks!

A: If he makes a claim for his damages, let your insurance handle it. They are obligated to defend and pay covered claims up to policy limits.
