Q: Am I responsible to pay for a bumper that was already damaged before I hit it. Replacement was the fix before I hit it.
This person wants me to pay half of what it would cost to replace the bumper but I know he just wants the money for the repair and not fix it. He also didn't want to report the incident to the insurance company or file a police report so we didn't. I think he wants to get paid twice for the damage. The only way to fix the bumper is to replace which he didn't do the first time. Should I be responsible to pay for half of the replacement cost or possibly a 1/4 of the replacement cost because the bumper was already damaged? Thank you for your time.
