A: Child Support Recovery is not directly concerned with helping you, but rather is simply concerned with helping the State recover mony from the child's other parent money that the State may have given you through various means (tax breaks, welfare, WIC, etc.). As such, they have very little interest in making sure that you obtain a good deal; all they care about is making the State richer (or at least less poor). If you hire a lawyer, that lawyer will be focused on your goals and interests, and your goals and interests alone. The lawyer will be much more attentive to your needs and questions, and you will likely see a much quicker resolution to your litigation. As well, your lawyer may be able to recovery all and/or the majority of their fees from the other parent who owes child support, such that it costs you nothing (or very little) to hire said lawyer. Please contact a family law lawyer in your area to discuss your rights in greater detail.
