Provo, UT asked in Landlord - Tenant and Uncategorized for Utah

Q: What legal action can i take against my landlord for not taking care of the cockroaches in my apartment.

When my husband and i moved into our apartment, my husband noticed cockroaches. My mother asked my landlord what he was going to go about cockroaches, he replyed to her that he was going to do nothing that it is not his responsibility. I can't not find anything in my lease stating about who is responsible for taking care of cockroaches

A: Do an internet search for "landlord responsibilities in Utah" and you might find some interesting results. You might also consider reading the statutes on this topic.

A: Landlord Tenant law is an uphill battle in Utah but you still have rights and they should be protected. Here is a link that can help walk you through giving your landlord proper notice of a deficiency and then what to do after you have given the landlord notice.
