Aurora, CO asked in Uncategorized for Colorado

Q: I was declined to rent and aprtment due to my illegal staus .

I was told that I couldn't rent and apartment because I couldn't show proof of legal status . Even after they took my $245 aplication and admin fee to run my backgrond check, credit check and income verification. When I first asked for information on the aprtment I was asked to provide a photo ID . I provide them with my Mexican Consular Card they took it and showed me the complex and I was never told that I would be required to provide proof of legal status.I was accepted and I was told to come in and sign the leasing agreement, I signed the docs and asked again to for photo ID. I showed the same photo ID and I was told that I needed an official ID such as passport with a visa.At that time I asked to talk to a manager and I was told that I needed to show proof of legal status in the country

Please advice
