A: Hello Asker,

The best though not necessarily fairest answer is you don't. When it comes to red light cameras, there is little value in actually fighting them unless you are unemployed, retired, or otherwise not going to miss work doing so. For the vast majority of people, getting the CHANCE to beat the ticket at the expense of missing work makes fighting these pointless. Not to mention that these tickets have zero impact on your driving record so long as they are not unpaid (5 unpaid camera tickets = suspension of license until paid back). They do not count as moving violations meaning that they don't appear on driving records nor do they impact your license so long as they aren't unpaid. Additionally, at $100, the cost of paying them is often better borne by going to work when you could otherwise have had a hearing.

I understand you may feel it unfair. I only implore you to consider the opportunity cost in trying to fight the ticket. In the worst case scenario, you lose the hearing, end up paying the ticket, and missed work costing you far more time and money that you would have otherwise expended paying the ticket.

Hope that helps and let me know if you have further questions.
