Asked in Family Law for Louisiana

Q: Can my fiancé and I marry and move our family into his home without repercussion from custody court if my ex disagrees?

I have 4 children (3 boys & 1 girl). Ages of boys are 15, 12, and 3. Daughter is 7. My ex and I have joint custody with myself as primary custodian. He has 2 children (1 boy & 1 girl). Age of boy is 14. Daughter is 15. We've been dating for 2 years and engaged for 1. We will save a lot of money if we were living together. We would like to buy a bigger house but it's going to take us some time to save. This would be a temporary living arrangement while we save money. His home is 3b/2b. It is financially smarter to move into his home since he's got a mortgage on it and I rent a house of the same size. We have even thought about closing in the garage which would make a large bedroom or two normal size rooms. My ex was also just arrested on a Domestic Violence Harassing Communications III charge that I filed. However, when he was stopped, he had my 3 year old son with him. When the officers searched his vehicle, alarmingly he had marijuana and some type of paraphernalia (2 more charges).

A: Shouldn't be a problem, but consult with an attorney in your state to be sure.
