Q: If I get a dog for free from a posting online. Can they take the dog back?

I responded to an online posting. Free dog to good home. I meet up at my home with them and they agreed to leave the dog. 2 days later they are asking for it back. ItThey are harassing me demanding the dog back. They are saying I stole the dog. Can they legally take the dog back?
