Asked in Animal / Dog Law for Florida

Q: is it my right to miss work to care for my dog ? He must remain in rest after dislocating his knee, per vets directions

He dislocated his patella(knee cap) and it moves out of place when he tries to lay down, sit, walk, etc. I notified my supervisor and I have all the documentation from the visit to the vet; however, he is being very unsympathetic and sort of disrespectful about it and giving me a hard time because I missed two days of work. It's really hard to keep my dog limited in activity and it's hard on him to get used to his knee cap moving out of place when he tries to be normal. Not to mention it is heart breaking that some people arelike that because I'm responsible for his care and I will not put my work over him ever. What are my rights in this case, if any ? Regarding pet care and me being away from work in the event of an emergency like mine. Thanks in advance.

A: There really isn't any rights to speak of. Hopefully your company will understand and allow the time off.
