Sevierville, TN asked in Divorce for Tennessee

Q: Trying to complete my divorce, HELP! ! !

I filed for divorce may of 2011. The filing fee, child support, parenting classes have been complete. My attorney was referred by my mother, my mother and I had a falling out and he stated the deal he gave me was because of my mother that he would be needing an additional amount by said date, or else he could not continue as my lawyer. At the time I was 23 years old, with absolutely noone to help me or any idea how to proceed. I haven't spoken or heard from my "husband' in 2 years (August). The only thing not completed is mediation, which we have nothing to mediate. The attorney the judge had ordered me to go through is a total of $800 which obviously I cannot afford. Legal aid will not assist without his permission and the judge stated if this is not handled by April 18th, the divorce will be dismissed. Meaning I'd have to start all over again, I'm begging for information. I'm ready to move on and live my life with my family. Please if anyone has any information let me know!

A: Without all the facts, it is impossible for me to know why mediation was ordered if there is nothing in dispute. It may be considered contested because a parenting plan and marital dissolution agreement have not been submitted to the court. I suggest you find an attorney as soon as possible to draft the necessary documents to finalize your divorce.
