Q: Can I sue for malpractice if staff forget to remove gauze from inside me?
I was thinking about having a baby and went to have a procedure to make sure that my tubes were not blocked. I had a procedure done and I started having an odor and discharge 3-4 weeks afterwards. I went to another doctor and they discovered that a 4x4 gauge was left inside of me and had pus etc.. . and they said it was good that I came when I did because sepsis. They gave me antibiotics and then shortly afterwards I started to have sever pain and went back to doctor and they said I had another infection after they did cat scan etc.
A:
You have a claim. Whether or not it would be brought depends on the fallout, as cases are very expensive to bring and
it may be that what you'd get wouldn't cover the costs. But an attorney could see what they could get given the fairly clear flub on their part.Contact a membef of the Michigan Assn for Justice that handles medical cases and see what they say.
