Q: Did police violate my rights?
I was caught with weed at a house party. I was honest with the officer and told her I had weed and turned it over. I was charged with drug possession and drug paraphernalia. Apparently the officer knew the owners of the apartment and at one point told me "if they lose their apartment I will make your life hell". She also made me write a statement saying "you're writing a statement and it isn't an option" forcing me to write one. And the last thing after I was free to go I asked if I could take my friend home who I had given a ride to the party. My friend wasn't charged with anything and the officer was trying to make her call her mom for a ride even though she's 18. I ask the officer if I could give her a ride home and the officer told me no. Was she legally able to tell me I couldn't leave with my friend if we were both free to go?
A: Not that I can see. You apparently admitted you were in possession of the drug and drug paraphernalia. You don't indicate that the officer used force or otherwise inappropriately "forced" you to make a statement. And you didn't have the "right" to drive your friend home.
