Chicago, IL asked in Personal Injury for Illinois

Q: My teenage son got into a auto accident and was injured.

He does not have his license yet. Are we able to get any money from the other person involved even if my son was not supposed to be driving?

A: Typically, the fact that a driver did not have a license does not preclude the injury victim from seeking damages. The key issue as to liability is who was at fault for the automobile accident. Contact a local personal injury attorney to review the applicable laws and legal rights to compensation. Most attorneys will provide you with a free consultation.

A: I am assuming your son was injured in this crash and that another driver was at fault. If that is true, I believe that you for your son if he is a minor may make a claim for his injuries.

A: Assuming he wasn't at fault, he should be aable to recover for his injuries. Contact a member of the Illinois Trial Lawuers Association--they give free consultations.
