Q: I was changed with a DUI and had my son in the car at the time, was wondering what the penalty for this is?
A: The penalties will depend on several factors one is if you were just charged with the DWI then you will get the penalties based on whether this is a first, second or third offense. Penalties can be enhanced if you were in a school zone. Penalties can also be enhanced on a 1st offense based on the level of alcohol in your blood. In addition if you have a minor in the car this is a criminal offense which can subject you to jail and criminal record. You need to bring your tickets and paperwork to a lawyer to get an evaluation of exactly what you face, this cannot be done over the internet as everyone is charged differently. I suggest you setup a free consultation with a good DWI lawyer because even on the lowest level DWI you face the possibility of jail and if you want to make sure the possibility does not become reality, I suggest you hire the best lawyer as that is the only way you can assure yourself of getting the best defense.
