Jacksonville, FL asked in DUI / DWI for Florida

Q: I just got my license back after a DUI charge.

A few weeks ago I was in an accident - no drinking was involved but I was ticketed. Is there any chance I'll lose my license?

A: A judge might consider a license suspension based on a bad driving history, if you are convicted of the new ticket. You might want to hire an attorney who can run interference for you in court. Don't pay the ticket, set it for trial...with a lawyer.

A: Unless you have an extraordinarily bad driving record, it is highly unlikely that a judge would suspend your license for a mere 'careless driving' charge. If you were driving more than 30 mph over the speed limit, you could be convicted of Reckless Driving, which could result in a judge suspending your license. However, for a run-of-the-mill accident, that would be unlikely.
