A: You need to make sure that you get a court date and you need to confirm that date by calling the clerk's office. You can retain an attorney to defend the ticket. Otherwise you can choose to have a trial, or plead guilty and pay whatever fines the court. But if you do that, or are found guilty after a trial, you'll wind up with points on your license too. Depending on your record you may also be eligible to take a driving class and have the ticket dismissed.
