Q: (19) I missed the deadline to pay my ticket by 2 days, later received a letter that SOS won't renew my license?
Does this mean my license is suspended? I didn't realize I couldn't pay with my own check, and when the office tried to mail it back, they sent it to my old address so it was late to me. I opened the letter the day after my court date. Now It's Christmas and so I cannot call the office. However, that gives me a day to at least plan out what I should do.
A: Call the sos and ask them. Usually, you can pay a ticket after the fact unless it was one that required u to appear.

Hello Asker,
Based upon the number, I assume that is your age. I would take caution at this moment because you may be at risk of suspension. Failure to pay can result in a revocation of supervision if you were on supervision for this ticket. This can have a chain reaction that could result in a license suspension for 1-12 months depending on if you have had a moving violation conviction within the last 24 months (if you were under 21 when you received these tickets). I don't think this happened as you would have received a suspension notice if that was the case.
You can pay the ticket off though I would be more concerned about your driving record given that this would constitute a violation of your sentence. If you do this, please note that you will likely need to deliver a failure to pay receipt to the secretary of state issued by the clerk's office. This is a required document to remove the hold on your license.
My recommendation would be to see what happened on your case as a consequence of your failure to pay. If your supervision was revoked, I would consider speaking to a traffic attorney to see if it is worth bringing back into court to remove the ticket from your public record. Lastly, I recommend updating your information with the secretary of state and renewing your license address to reflect your current address.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jason A. Wilkins
