Downingtown, PA asked in Immigration Law for Pennsylvania

Q: Can someone explains when exactly I should apply for naturalization?

Hi there,

I'm granted asylum on march 29 2012, and I got Green card issued on November 9 ,2012. According to my research I'm eligible to apply for naturalization 5 years from March 29 2012 which I did, unfortunately I got rejected with a reason that I applied too early. which doesn't make sense, I thought that I applied too late according to USCIS site which says "USCIS generally considers an asylee’s date of admission as an LPR to be one year prior to the date of approval of the adjustment application. [10] " which means that my LPR is march 29 2011 and I continued 5 years here.

A: With something that important at least get a consultation from an attorney who is a member of AILA and focuses their practice in immigration You will have to pay for the consult but at least they can look at your papers, see what your assylum was, dates etc.
