Highland, NY asked in Personal Injury, Civil Rights and Workers' Compensation for New York

Q: My job is telling me to walk 2.5 miles to my car at night i'm a minor and i live in NY. If i get hurt is my job at fault

Excuse the bad grammar and lack of explanation, as I did not have enough characters to explain the full situation. My job took away my right to park in the parking lot for 2 minor traffic violations. They have a parking lot 2.5 miles away that i need to park in and get a ride (which i can't) or walk to and from work. I get out at 9, and i need to get home and shower, do my homework and the kin. I can't do that. May i also add that I would be walking through the woods in the middle of no where in the pitch black, no source of light, and alone.

A: They don't have to give you a place to park. They are responsible if you get hurt while at their parking area, and I would say under Pennsylvania law you would have an arguable claim, but all an attorney can do is give you an estimate--those facts I don't thiink an attorney in any state can give you a sure answer as cases are fact specific, especially if third parties--attackers--are involved.
