Port Richey, FL asked in Divorce for Florida

Q: Is there any way to get free representation for divorce, or to go after my soon to be ex for the payment of my fees?

I am on Social Security Disability only and had to move out of my marital home which I jointly own, and now I'm payment $850 a month for rent and only receive $1090.00 per month. I have had no maintenance from him at all, and every time I ask my current attorney about this, she says it has to wait for mediation, but I have talked to others who haven't had to do this. I am set to go to mediation on Feb. 16th, and every time I turn around, I am being asked for more money from my lawyer's office, and she agreed to take my case knowing that I had very limited funds.

A: Most attorneys require payment up front. It is probably best to stay with the attorney you have and try to work it out.
