Indianapolis, IN asked in Traffic Tickets and DUI / DWI for Indiana

Q: I was given a ticket for minor procession and I was wondering what I could do about it?

I was carrying the beer in my hand for my buddy. The cops pulled us over and told us they followed us from the store. My buddy's hands were full so that's why I was carring the beer.

A: Get a lawyer. That is not a traffic ticket! You are being charged with a misdemeanor. If you have a clear prior record, you may be eligible for pretrial diversion.

A: Based on those limited facts, being with a friend and not a parent or guardian, you will have a hard time with defending the case on your own. If you have no history, you can see it the prosecutors office will speak with you and offer a PreTrial Diversion. If they will not it is in your best interest to speak with an attorney to see what can be done to keep this off your record or minimize the consequences.
