Q: I received a ticket for going 55 in a 35. How much would court supervision be and what would I have to do?
My ticket right now is $120.
A: It is different on different places. Contact a lawyer in that county.

Hello Asker,
Court supervision costs vary wildly depending on the county. We practice primarily in Chicagoland Area and in counties near the Chicagoland area (within 1-1.5 hours from Cook County Borders). With that said, some generalities can be drawn. I can tell you is that the $120 is only going to be available as a fee for court supervision IF you do not go to court. This is not guaranteed and the court will deny supervision if you have had another ticket in the past year. If that is the case, you should expect to go to court to request supervision (so long as you have not had supervision twice in the past 12 months). All of this is because the $120 does not include court costs.
If you do go to court, you should expect to pay on the low as little as $214 (cook county's floor on pricing) in some of the cheaper counties to up to $350 in some of the more expensive counties. Time to pay varies with the shortest due dates often in Will County being 30-60 days and the longer due dates for counties like Kane County (6 months). More time can be given but in general, the shortest would probably be Will County which is only likely to grant you 90 days to pay.
In order to request supervision, you must either follow the directions to request supervision (it often requires traffic safety school) or appear in person in court and request supervision. If you do not appear in court, you must take care to ensure that you are requesting supervision and not merely a conviction (the opposite of supervision) as both of them are ways of being found guilty.
Hope that helps and let us know if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Jason A.Wilkins
