Bellevue, WA asked in Child Support for Oregon

Q: My 17 year daughter has been living w her mother for the past year, during this time I pay child support....

My daughter has now moved out as her mother is setting a horrible example and she does not want to be around her and her promiscuous behavior. My daughter moved in w her grandma as I am working 5 hrs away on a project. My exwife has filed a modification w the CS program stating my daughter has moved out and no longer lives w her or myself and has asked that the child support garnishment stop. In the mean time my checks are still being garnished but my ex has the money and keeping it for herself and I am sending money directly to my daughter to make sure she is provided for. In the modification to the CS program my ex wife wrote a letter saying because she decided to finance a car in her name for my daughter (my daughter has returned the car to my ex wife) and will have to take a financial hit of selling the car she wants my earnings to be recalculated with CS program...I am waiting to get sent something in the mail but nervous as to what to expect. Any advice is appreciate.

A: My advice is you should not rely on your former spouse to reduce your child support obligation.
