Greenwood, IN asked in DUI / DWI for New Jersey

Q: Does the DMV check the national database for suspensions in other states if you're just registering a new vehicle, and?

I've lived in Indiana for 2 yrs and 5 months. Before that New Jersey. My plan was to move here anyway, but before I moved I got a refusal to submit to a breathalyzer and was set a court date. I acquired my Indiana license, and surrendered my NJ license because from my lawyer I was under the assumtion that everything would be dropped as I need a current state license to look for jobs. They ended up taking my license which I didn't have to give because I already gave it up to indiana. While here I did all the requirements and each said I was compliant. Now I bought a car. But I was just now looking thorough my old paperwork to file it with some new paperwork, I was suppose to install an interlock device for a year, and it says also during which the suspension period which is long over, but I imagine it's still suspend because of the interlock? Will they reinstate once it's installed, or do I have to fulfill a certain period before that?

A: Your question is best asked to your lawyer as he will know what the judge ordered. A new lawyer would have to research the status of your case and charge you.
