Q: Can a minor represent himself in traffic court for a speeding ticket?

I was going 14 mph over the speedlimit.

A: If this is your first ticket, I suggest that you call the prosecutor's office and inquire into whether it would be possible to have the ticket suspended. This means that you would pay a small fee (i.e. $50) and the charge would not go on your record unless you committed another offense. It may help to have your parents assist you in this - I am not of the opinion that most prosecutors are going to throw the book at a teenager.
