Asked in Real Estate Law for Colorado

Q: We bought a house, asked inspector about 2 bows in the walls. He replied that it's not an issue.

Now we have a stud braking through the wall. What can we do?

A: At this point it is probably best to contact a real estate attorney. You have potential claims against the inspector, the previous homeowners, and possibly the realtor. From the sounds it, you probably have either a significant foundation problem or serious structural problem resulting in insufficient load carrying. Either way, the correction will be in the thousands. You have my sympathies, you are not the first home owner to rely on an "expert's" opinion that is later shown to be horribly (and negligently) wrong...
