A: Hello Asker,

As a general rule, court supervision is more the exception than the rule. Few states have a system like Illinois for court supervision. Therefore, if you have an out of state ticket, a conviction is often the only result aside from beating it at trial. If you hire a local attorney, they may be able to have it reduced to a non-moving violation but this is not a guarantee depending on the ticket and the county in which it was issued.

With that said, if this is your third moving violation in a year, there are steps that can be taken in Illinois to prevent a suspension depending on how your record looks and what tickets you previously received. My recommendation would be to schedule a consultation with an attorney and have them review your driving record to see what steps can be taken to prevent a suspension from occurring. I would recommend doing so sooner rather than later so as to prevent being suspended before it can happen.

Hope that helps and let us know if you have any additional questions!

Sincerely,

Jason A. Wilkins
